About the Role

We are looking for a New Zealand Registered Social Worker to join our small team on a casual basis. We are a group of enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated multidisciplinary professionals who ensure the transition from home to hospital and back home again is well supported. As a Social Worker you will be responsible for providing appropriate and effective psychosocial assessment, intervention, monitoring and evaluation to clients and supporting them and their whānau through their health journey. No two days will ever be the same. This role is predominately based in Greymouth but we provide coast wide services and you could be asked to work in other areas.

About the Team

Te Tai o Poutini West Coast Social Work Team consists of seven Social Workers, with staff based in Greymouth, Hokitika and Westport. The team covers all aspects of in-patients, out-patients and community settings, working within a Rural Generalist model of care.

About you

You will be a New Zealand Registered Social Worker who enjoys a busy environment and constantly changing workload. You will provide excellent clinical care, be self motivated and able to work autonomously or within a team. You will have an ability to relate and communicate clearly with a range of healthcare professionals and clients. You will be able to step in where required and efficiently assist the team with a range of referrals, whilst maintaining the privacy, respect and dignity of all people you encounter. In addition, you must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and have a NZ full driver’s licence.

Other desirable attributes include:

  • Experience working within multi and inter-disciplinary teams
  • Previous experience working at Te Whatu Ora and/or in rural healthcare
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
