About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in our General Ward, you will:

  • Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care across a range of Medical and Surgical presentations.
  • Utilise your advanced assessment, decision-making, and critical care skills to support patients with complex needs.
  • Work collaboratively with a skilled multi-disciplinary team to deliver person and whānau-centred care.
  • Lead and support Enrolled Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and others to ensure excellence in care delivery.
  • Promote culturally safe practice, aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity-focused health outcomes for Māori and Pacific peoples.
  • Contribute to service improvement, innovation, and integration to strengthen our local model of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care in accordance with professional, ethical, and legal standards.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation to a high standard.
  • Support the development of patient-centred care plans, ensuring involvement of patients, whānau, and community.
  • Promote and model a safe, supportive, and professional environment for staff and patients alike.
  • Escalate clinical and professional concerns appropriately.

About you

  • Current New Zealand Nursing Council registration with a valid APC.
  • Strong clinical skills, with experience in acute medical/surgical care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to culturally safe practice and equity of health outcomes.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and the ability to work confidently in a rural setting.
