About the Role

As a Receptionist at Buller Health, you’ll be responsible for delivering exceptional front-line service to patients, whānau, and visitors, as well as providing vital administrative support to keep our clinic and wider health services running smoothly. This is a varied role where no two days are the same—perfect for someone who thrives in a busy and supportive healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, welcoming manner—both in person and over the phone.
  • Manage appointment bookings, patient enrolments, and enquiries with care and accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date patient records, including enrolment data, clinical documents, and correspondence.
  • Support the efficient running of the clinic by monitoring waiting areas and assisting with daily operational tasks.
  • Assist with payments, invoicing (including ACC and overseas patients), and end-of-day cash reconciliation.
  • Provide general admin support, including mail, scanning, filing, and minute taking.
  • Help coordinate DHB vehicle use, patient transport, and maintenance requests.
  • Provide support across other Buller Health sites as needed.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • A positive, people-focused attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong time management and multitasking ability—comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • High levels of initiative, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare.
  • Good self-presentation and commitment to continuous learning and self-development.
  • Problem-solving ability and a flexible, can-do attitude.
  • High standards of accuracy and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a health-related or customer-facing administrative role.
  • Knowledge of Indici or other patient management systems.
  • Ability to provide extra cover during staff shortages or busy periods.
