Are you a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in a rural healthcare setting? We are seeking a skilled Practice Nurse to join our Integrated Family Health Service (IFHS) team in the Buller Region. This is an exciting opportunity to provide holistic, high-quality care across all age groups while contributing to improved rural health outcomes.

About the Role

As a valued member of our interprofessional team, you will deliver a wide range of primary care, urgent care, and short-stay services. Your role will focus on providing culturally competent and holistic care to children, adults, and whānau within our rural communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care within the primary care setting to enhance health and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Provide culturally competent care, prioritising the needs of Māori as tangata whenua to achieve equity in health outcomes.
  • Support and empower individuals and whānau to improve health literacy and overall wellness.
  • Undertake comprehensive, holistic assessments within culturally appropriate frameworks.
  • Develop collaborative and documented care plans that support continuity of care.
  • Work closely with community stakeholders and the interprofessional team to address unmet healthcare needs.
  • Foster integration of acute, community, mental health, and primary care within the IFHS.
  • Actively contribute to system improvements to enhance healthcare access and equity for Māori.
  • Maintain professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities while ensuring cultural safety.
  • Demonstrate evidence-based nursing knowledge in patient care management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold data security protocols.
  • Identify opportunities for service enhancement and support quality improvement initiatives.

About you

Essential Requirements

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) without conditions that may impact role performance.
  • Computer literacy, including experience with Indici and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong initiative and ability to think on your feet
  • PRIME training or commitment to completing training and providing this service to the community

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Practice Nurse, including managing long-term conditions and working with standing orders.
  • Current Immunisation and Cervical Smear Certificates.
  • Triage qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in areas such as advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, and long-term conditions management.
  • Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio.
