About the role
Te Tai o Poutini West Coast Laboratory is looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in Greymouth on a full-time basis. The West Coast Laboratory is the only laboratory on the West Coast, processing a variety of work from both the Hospital and Community settings. Come and work in a core laboratory and get great variation in your vocation.

We are a close-knit friendly team of Scientists and Technicians, with a strong quality focus. We are looking for you to bring a ‘can do’ attitude to ensure the efficient and smooth running of laboratory services.
We can offer relocation allowances for those wanting to move to the West Coast!!!
The laboratory operates between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday and outside of these hours, you will participate in an on-call roster including weekends.
This role involves:
- General laboratory tasks including phlebotomy.
- Performing analysis and other associated laboratory tasks
- Providing diagnostic and specialist testing
- Use laboratory information systems to register patients, input data, and access results
- Maintain your own professional development
- Providing high-quality service to clients
- Problem-solving within the team
- Result interpretation
- Reporting results
About you
Skills and experience
This role requires the following:
- Registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council, with a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Or maybe you are a new BMLSc graduate, or about to graduate with a BMLSc
- Ability to work independently but also part of a team
- High attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
