Mō te tūnga | About the Role

  • Develop clinical pharmacy skills in both hospital and community pharmacy environments
  • Apply the knowledge you’ve gained from your degree in a practical setting
  • Work towards full pharmacist registration through enrolment in the PSNZ EVOLVE programme

This is a one of a kind internship working across both Community & Hospital Pharmacy - if you are looking for a diverse internship then look no further. Your internship will be split, spending 6 months at a local community pharmacy (in either Hokitika or Greymouth) as well as 6 months at Health New Zealand, Te Tai o Poutini (West Coast) hospital pharmacy. This internship will allow you to develop your pharmacy skills in an innovative and supportive environment, and will allow you to experience the best of rural health care.

Here at Health New Zealand, Te Tai o Poutini we provide health care to one of the largest geographical area in Aotearoa. The West Coast is home to stunning natural landscapes, including two of the country’s most famous glaciers – Franz Josef and Fox Glacier and is an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts! Here it is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city living.

As an Intern Pharmacist you will be responsible for assisting with delivery of a quality Te Tai o Poutini-wide Pharmacy service. This will mean meeting legislative, contractual and professional obligations. You will be supported by a Pharmacy Preceptor and build relationships with the wider pharmacy team along with clients in our inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and eligibility to enrol in the PSNZ EVOLVE programme
  • A willingness to engage in the various learning opportunities that will be available to you
  • Excellent team work and flexibility as you will be working across different environments and with different teams

  • Flexible and motivated approach to your work.
