Mō te tūnga | About the role

The HR Manager role is responsible for supporting senior leaders in driving the people strategy for their teams, and provide coaching, leadership and support in complex people matters. This includes high levels of relationship management to enable priorities and business objectives to be successfully achieved. It is expected that the HR Manager will have deep expertise in organisation development, talent and team development, and being able to translate business priorities into people plans.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Facilitate and build our leaders’ capability to effectively manage people during times of transformational change.
  • Provide feedback, coaching and mentoring to ensure we get the best from our people daily.
  • Partnering with Senior Managers on planning and implementation of key projects such as complex organisational design and change, succession planning, capability development, workforce planning, etc.
  • Coaching managers through difficult situations in a way that is led by the manager, delivers the appropriate outcome and builds the manager’s capability and confidence
  • Being curious and challenging the status quo so that the business functions better and our service is continually improving
  • Partner with your colleagues across the broader HR teams to align our approach to talent management, leadership development, culture transformation, employment relations, union strategy and health and safety.

You understand HR strategy and how to engage, influence and deliver outcomes throughout teams within a complex, fast paced and ever-changing environment. You will have an efficient, pragmatic and approachable style with the ability to build productive relationships with people at all levels.

This role requires the following skills:

  • Significant experience in a similar role in a multi-entity, complex, and geographically distributed organisation
  • Excellent consulting, negotiation and facilitation skills
  • Track record in successfully delivering key large-scale People initiatives
  • Sound knowledge of all People and Capability technical areas
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience supporting senior leaders across multiple locations
  • You love a challenge, keep calm under pressure, have a curious mindset and can work collaboratively to balance shared deliverables and personal accountability.
