Health Care Assistant | Greymouth
- West Coast – Greymouth - Outpatients

About the Role
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Non-Clinical Support
- Provide support across all Outpatient clinics, including medical, surgical, paediatric and orthopaedic services.
- Assist with preparing clinic rooms, restocking consumables, ensuring equipment is clean, available and in working order.
- Respect and maintain patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
- Respond courteously and promptly to patient enquiries and direct them to appropriate staff when required.
- Assist orderlies and other staff with patient movement to diagnostic procedures.
- Carry out tasks professionally while working under clinical supervision.
Department Support & Housekeeping
- Maintain tidy, well-organised storerooms, clinic spaces, and sluice rooms.
- Replace linen and rubbish bags as required to support timely clinic turnover.
- Ensure clean linen supply is maintained throughout the day.
- Refill consumables and ensure items are stored correctly and safely.
- Redeployment to other areas may be required to support service needs.
Administrative & Ward Clerk Support
- Learn and support basic ward clerk duties as required.
- Assist with booking enquiries, patient flow, and general clerical tasks.
- Use computer systems and software such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
About You
Essential
- Computer literate with the ability to learn new systems.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to respecting patient privacy, dignity and cultural needs.
- A team player with a proactive and supportive attitude.
- Ability to accept responsibility and follow instructions safely and professionally.
Desirable
- NZQA Level 3 Health Care Assistant qualification (or working towards).
- Previous experience in a health care environment.
