Clinical Nurse Manager | West Coast
- West Coast – Southern Locality (based in Hokitika, serving communities from Hokitika to Haast)
- Permanent position, between 30 to 40 hours

About the role
In this pivotal role, you’ll work alongside Operational Managers and the Nurse Director of Operations to deliver integrated, high-quality care and leadership in alignment with Health NZ Te Whatu Ora values and vision. You’ll help drive innovation and excellence in community-based and primary care services while ensuring cultural competence, clinical quality, and workforce sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong clinical and operational leadership, fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Ensure safe staffing through evidence-based workforce planning aligned with demand and MECA compliance.
- Support recruitment, retention, and succession planning strategies — with a focus on early pipeline development and growing the Māori workforce.
- Promote and implement integrated, interprofessional models of care to improve outcomes and equity, especially for Māori.
- Act as a change agent — leading service delivery improvements based on national and local strategies.
- Drive continuous quality improvement and service development to ensure excellence in rural and remote healthcare delivery.
- Support professional growth of staff through mentorship, supervision, and training opportunities.
- Step into delegated leadership roles or deputise as required.
About you
Essential:
- Registered Nurse with a current APC (without restrictions)
- Postgraduate qualification (minimum of PG Diploma or working towards one)
- At least 3 years’ post-registration experience
- Cultural competency or a commitment to complete training
- Full, clean NZ driver’s licence and the ability to drive
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clinical systems
- Capability to work with children and whānau
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a senior nursing or leadership role
- Active portfolio within the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP)
