About the role
We are looking for an experienced practitioner to lead our CAMHS team to provide a variety of complex and clinically driven tasks including:
Our Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team is currently looking for skilled and passionate mental health professional to become a great leader for our service. This role is vital to the mental health of our children and young people across the West Coast, and you will be supporting them through their journey along with their whanau. This role will include working within the community and within our integrated model of care. There will be opportunities and support for professional development and ongoing role development.
About You
- Expert leadership and management knowledge with excellent clinical skills
- Passion for Child & Adolescence Mental Health, exceptional interpersonal & communication skills.
- Understanding and application of the principles of the treaty of Waitangi, with a culturally safe and appropriate approach to practice
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- A strong understanding of Māori health inequity and Māori population need
- Understanding of contemporary approaches to mental health and wellbeing
- Clean & full drivers licence as you will be traveling in DHB cars
Responsibilities include:
- Ensures that all registered staff practice is safe, legal, effective and responsive to the needs of the patients.
- Develops an environment, which places a responsibility and authority for decision making at the level closest to the situation.
- Understands and practises the principles of quality management and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates effective management of complaints, incidents and hazards as per policies and procedures.
- Provides client-centred care, utilising evidence-based treatment strategies including, where appropriate, talking therapies
- Coordinate care at the right time with input from external providers
- Undertakes all components of case management, including: comprehensive assessment, risk assessment and management, recovery, and treatment planning
About you
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role it is essential you have the following:
- Registered with the NZ Nursing Council with the scope to practice within Mental Health with a current Nursing Council of NZ Practising Certificate. Or Registered Health Professional with current registration and scope to work in Mental Health
- Holds post graduate management or Nursing qualification or working towards this.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-registration experience with recognised clinical experience/expertise
- A commitment to staff development and research-based practice and a commitment to relevant professional development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation and conflict resolution across all disciplines and occupational groups.
- Understanding of financial management in an operational area.
